We were hoping to get to do the 18th Frosty 5K this year in-person but with Covid-19 raging we will not. We will have a virtual Frosty 5K. This year 100% of the entry fees collected go to charity. You can choose the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry, The Giving Tree Food Pantry (located in Christiansburg) or the Radford/ Fairlawn New River Community Action Emergency Assistance Program (RCEAP). We will have a costume contest and giveaway TWENTY gift cards to local restaurants!
You can register up till the 27th - which is also the last day you can turn in your time to RunAbout Sports website. We will start taking times on December 23rd.
We will mark the course for those who would like to run it. That will be done on the 23rd. The marking usually lasts two to three days depending on weather. Participants will have until midnight on the 27th to turn in their results (can do the Frosty course, or your own route or even run it on a treadmill). We have 275 long sleeve cotton shirts ordered – so register as soon as you can to get your shirt. RunAbout Sports and Eleven West are paying for the shirts so that 100% can go to the charities. Thank you John and the great folks at Eleven West. The entry fee is $15.00 but you can give more if you can. The checks are to be written directly to the charity you choose (For the Interfaith Food Pantry make the check out to New River Community Action and in the memo write “Interfaith food pantry." For The Giving Tree Food Pantry just write their name, and for RCEAP please write New River Community Action with RCEAP in the memo). We will also collect canned foods. So if you can, bring some canned goods when you pick up your shirt(s). A list of what is needed is below. Those who register online, you can pick which charity there and can make an additional donation if you wish.
Also to support our local restaurants RunAbout will be giving away TWENTY $25.00 gift cards as a door prize. We will also give away eight gift cards prior to the 23rd for those who register early thanks to Skip Slocum of Nest realty. So 28 gift cards to our local restaurants! The twenty left will be given out based on a random drawing from the results. We will do that on the 28th. So get yourself and your family entered, get fit and help our neighbors.
